Earlier this month, we reported on the widespread disappointment from runners, after the English Half Marathon was cancelled just six days before it was due to take place. In brighter news, however, it has today been announced that the Wiggle Manchester Half Marathon have offered all runners a free place at their half marathon on Sunday 13 October
Over 15,000 runners have already signed up for the Wiggle Manchester Half Marathon, but understanding the disappointment those due to run on Sunday 15 September would have felt, extra capacity has been made available.
This is the event’s latest step in trying to ensure it’s one of the most inclusive races in the UK. The race already allowed runners to enter a £1 lottery for a place.

Event Director Sarah Berry said: “We had a number of runners contact us about the situation in Warrington, and we felt trying to help was the right thing to do. Whilst some runners may wish to wait and see if their original run is re-arranged, we felt this gesture was a way of ensuring those who needed it could get a finite date in the diary to complete their challenge.”
