On this week’s episode:

  • We speak with RW+ member Lauren Maze about running in the Hoka Skyward X
  • Ask an Expert question: “What’s an average daily trainer weight and when does a shoe seem heavy?”
  • Missed last week’s episode? We spoke with RW+ member Dean Lao about the Saucony Tempus 2

RW+ member Lauren Maze, who lives in Des Moines, Iowa, said she hated Hoka on her How Was Your Run? guest application. We said: Challenge accepted.

The Hoka Skyward X has a 48mm stack height, making it an illegal shoe to race in according to World Athletics guidelines (shoes can’t be thicker than 40mm). It has PEBA foam with a carbon-fiber plate sandwiched in the middle. Find out if the max-cushioned Skyward X changed Maze’s mind about Hoka’s shoes.

You can appear on a future episode by becoming an RW+ member today! Once you’re a member, fill out an application to test shoes and be our guest on the show.
