Back in February Nike teamed up with Undercover’s Jun Takahashi to release earth-toned, Zen-inspired versions of its Vaporfly 4% and Pegasus Turbo, in addition to a line of urban running apparel. After the success of that collection—dubbed “Gyakusou” after a Tokyo-based running group that runs counter-clockwise around the city’s parks—the two brands are now adding an Air Zoom Pegasus Trail SP to the collaboration.

The shoe retains the Peg 36 Trail’s Zoom Air and foam midsole a rubber outsole with flat-topped lugs (for dirt grip that doesn’t feel blocky on pavement). But the upper isn’t just some sweet decals—it’s all new.
The water-repellent mesh material has added reinforcement in the toe and heel. The lacing is now offset, to better conform to your foot, and the laces themselves are a quick lace design instead of regular laces. The collab shoe also gets a heel pull tab, and a Gyakusou rose graphic completes the offbeat look. According to sneakersnstuff.com’s description, this is meant to highlight Takahasi’s “balance/chaos ethos"—though Nike says the shoe’s design is also steeped in the brand’s one-time “rebellious maverick spirit.”
The shoe drops September 26 in Sport Red/Thunder Blue and Mineral Yellow/Sail/Deep Pewter colorways. Look for it from Nike.com and other Nike retailers.
